Why a Private PPO Fits 1099 CRNA Work
Private PPO health plans are built for professionals who value freedom as much as reliability. They travel with you, state to state and assignment to assignment, keeping the same benefits and the same nationwide network wherever you go.
- Nationwide PPO network. See specialists and top hospitals in-network, without referrals.
- Your deductible doesn’t reset when you change assignments or move to another state.
- Year-round enrollment. No waiting for an Open Enrollment window.
- Pricing based on your health, not your income. A short health questionnaire, no labs.
- Plan designs from copay-rich to HSA-compatible.
At Norwood Health, our goal is simple: protect the freedom you’ve earned with coverage that matches your level of professionalism.

Locum CRNAs: One Plan Across Every Assignment
If you take locum CRNA assignments, the challenge grows sharper. Your career demands mobility, but most health plans are built for one zip code, not for people who might be in Dallas this month and Denver next.
Our private PPO options give you nationwide coverage and the confidence that your plan won’t disappear the moment an assignment ends. You own the policy. It isn’t tied to an agency, a facility, or a contract, so you can take the assignment, book the flight, and keep the same coverage.

When should I set up coverage if I’m leaving a W-2 job?
Before your last day, if you can. Employer coverage usually ends on your termination date or at the end of that month. Private PPOs enroll year-round, so we can line up a start date with no gap.

My agency offered me a health plan. Should I just take it?
It may be a fine plan, and it is convenient. Before you say yes, check two things: which network it uses outside your home state, and what happens to the coverage when the assignment ends. A plan you own stays with you between contracts and between agencies.
Will my plan work in another state?
That is the point of a nationwide PPO. The same network and the same benefits apply whether your assignment is in Nevada or Florida. We check the network against where you live and where you work before you enroll.
Can I deduct my premiums as a 1099 CRNA?
Premiums may be tax-deductible for eligible self-employed and 1099 filers, and some plan designs are HSA-compatible. We don’t give tax advice, so confirm with your CPA.

Anesthesiologists and other physicians (MD/DO) who work locums face the same problem: benefits tied to an employer you no longer have. The same nationwide private PPO options are available to you, and the review works the same way. Tell us where you live and where you take assignments, and we’ll show you what fits.
