About Jake Norwood

Jake Norwood is a licensed health insurance advisor in Fort Worth, Texas, and the founder of Norwood Health. He works with the people who keep operating rooms running — 1099 and locum CRNAs first, then locum tenens physicians — and with the business owners who, like them, have no HR department to ask.

In short

Jake helps clinicians who leave a W-2 job for 1099 or locum work replace their employer health plan with coverage they own themselves. He is the son of a CRNA, has been licensed since 2022, and has run his own agency since 2023.

Who Jake Works With

The jump from W-2 to 1099 is the moment you trade certainty for freedom. It is also the moment your benefits disappear and nobody hands you a playbook. That is where Jake comes in.

1099 and Locum CRNAs

CRNAs going independent, taking locum contracts, or moving between facilities and states. Jake grew up in a CRNA’s household, and this is who the practice is built around.

Locum Tenens Physicians

MDs and DOs who work assignments in more than one state and need a network that doesn’t end at the state line, with a plan that doesn’t reset every time the contract does.

Business Owners

Owners of small companies, and clinicians who run their work through an LLC or an S-corp. If the business is only you, a group plan usually isn’t available, and a plan in your own name is the route.

Jake Norwood’s Story: Raised by a CRNA

Jake was born and raised in North Texas. His mother is a CRNA and his father was his high-school football coach, so he grew up between an operating-room schedule and a locker room. He went on to play football at Auburn University and finished his degree at TCU in Fort Worth, where he still lives and works.

He was licensed as a health insurance agent in 2022 and opened his own agency in 2023. Early on he was mentored by Perry Lunsford, “The Healthy Insurance Dude,” who introduced him to health-based, underwritten, nationwide PPO coverage — the kind of plan most people leaving a W-2 job have never been told exists.

What he saw was an industry that fails clinicians at exactly the wrong moment. No education, no guidance, just more wolves in sheep’s clothing. So the practice runs the other way round: educate first, advise second, and stay reachable long after the application is signed.

Licensed, Local and Easy to Check

Health insurance is a decision with real money and real health behind it. You should be able to verify who is advising you before you share anything.

Texas Resident License 3361009

Jake has held his license since 2022. Anyone can confirm it, and its current status, through the Texas Department of Insurance agent lookup.

National Producer Number 21649072

The NPN is the number that follows an agent across every state. Clients outside Texas can look it up in the national producer database and see where Jake is licensed.

An Office in Fort Worth

6777 Camp Bowie Blvd, Suite 404, Fort Worth, TX 76116. Most clients are on assignment somewhere else, so reviews happen by phone or video — but there is a real door to knock on.

What Working With Jake Looks Like

It starts with a coverage review: a conversation about how you work, not a quote form.

  1. You explain your situation

W-2 or 1099, where you live, where your assignments are, who needs covering, and when your current coverage ends.

  2. Jake lays out the options

Private PPO, Marketplace, COBRA or a spouse’s plan, side by side, in plain language, with what each one asks of you.

  3. He stays your contact

A billing question in month seven or a new contract in another state goes to the same person who set the plan up.

This is a fit review, not a sales pitch. Eligibility, underwriting, benefits, and networks vary by carrier and state, and private coverage isn’t the right answer for everyone.

Questions People Ask Before They Call

Is Jake Norwood a licensed health insurance agent?

Yes. Jake holds Texas resident license 3361009 and National Producer Number 21649072, and has been licensed since 2022. Both numbers can be checked through the Texas Department of Insurance and the national producer database.

Do I have to live in Texas to work with Jake?

No. The office is in Fort Worth, but most clients are somewhere else, often on assignment. Reviews happen by phone or video, and Jake works with clients in the states where he holds a license. Tell him your home state when you book and he will confirm it first.

The plans themselves are built for that kind of life. See how nationwide PPO health insurance works across state lines.

Will Jake tell me if a private plan isn’t right for me?

Yes. Private PPO plans are medically underwritten, which means they suit some people well and others not at all. If a Marketplace plan, COBRA or a spouse’s plan is the better answer for you, that is what you will hear.

The health insurance FAQs explain underwriting and the other terms you will run into along the way.

Our Why

At Norwood Health, our “why” is simple: the ones who carry the weight of caring for others should never have to question their own protection.

We exist to return autonomy to the professionals who make modern medicine move — the CRNAs, physicians and 1099 clinicians who trade comfort for calling. We reject the idea that the healer must be the hostage.

Our work is to place choice, portability and dignity back in the clinician’s hands.
